GCSE Results 2014
Following last week's A Level news, this week Edgbaston High School has further cause for celebration as we announce this year's GCSE Results.
We were delighted with the performance of our girls. The overall pass rate is 99.5%, with 26.4% at A* grade, 63.4% at A*/A grades and 90.2% at A*/A/B grades.
There were some stunning individual performances from the girls:
- Mariel Orford Hall and Rebecca Presswood both achieved 11 A* grades.
- Dominique Al-Hindawi and Jennifer Wang both achieved 10 A* grades.
- 36% of the girls gained 9 or more A*/A grades.
- 25% of the girls gained 10 or more A*/A grades.
For one group of girls, sitting GCSE examinations was followed by another nerve-wracking experience: a trip to the wilds of Central America! In July, 13 girls embarked on the World Challenge expedition to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The girls have achieved 130 GCSE grades between them.
Dr Ruth Weeks, Headmistress said: "We are delighted with today's results which are a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of pupils and staff.
"I am extremely proud of the results achieved by our Year 11 students and wish them many congratulations. I look forward to sharing in the girls' continued success as they move forward into the EHS Sixth Form in September."
