Scholarships & Bursaries
The School offers Scholarships at 11+ and 16+. All awards are granted on the basis of evidence of excellence and outstanding potential in a given area.
Scholarships at entry to Senior School
The following named scholarships are awarded annually at 11+, based on a girl's performance in the Entrance Test:
Chamberlain Scholarship: an Academic Scholarship, awarded to a girl from the EHS Preparatory School; Dixon Scholarship: an Academic Scholarship, awarded to an external candidate from the maintained sector; Anthea Cadbury Scholarship: an Academic Scholarship, open to all candidates and the Martineau Scholarship: a scholarship in recognition of excellence in Music - open to all candidates.
In addition, the School has a number of EHS Scholarships that are awarded to candidates who have reached an excellent standard in the Entrance Examination.
Each year, a limited number of means-tested Bursaries are available for girls who show good academic ability. Bursaries are awarded to girls entering Year 7 or Sixth Form only. All Bursaries are means-tested, that is, they are dependent on parental income, and may cover a percentage of the School fees. They are granted at the discretion of the Headmistress.
For the school to consider any bursary application both parents must be in paid employment. All means-tested bursaries are re-assessed on an annual basis to allow for change in circumstances.
Bursary Forms can be requested at the time of registering.
All girls registered for the Year 7 Entrance Examination will be considered for an academic scholarship, irrespective of their family's eligibility to qualify for a means-tested Bursary.
Scholarships at entry to Sixth Form
A number of Sixth Form Academic Scholarships are awarded each year to current pupils by internal review and external candidates by examination. We also have a Music Scholarship available to girls entering the Sixth Form.
Means-tested Bursaries are available to Sixth Form candidates of good ability in cases of financial need. Bursaries are available to cover a percentage of the School fees. Bursary Forms can be requested at the time of registering.
