Information and Communications Technology

Examination Board: AQA

Many aspects of our daily lives rely on ICT at a practical level. This course brings the study of ICT up-to-date for the 21st Century. Throughout the course students will develop their understanding of the principles of problem solving using ICT. It offers opportunities for practical work using a wide range of software and hardware.

Entry Requirements:

Although preferable it is not necessary to have studies ICT at GCSE level. It would be useful to have an interest in how ICT impacts on people's lives and a familiarisation with programs such as Word, Excel and Access.

A qualification in ICT combines well with many subjects, including those that would benefit from an ability to obtain, manipulate, present and communicate information. It also goes well with subjects that contain analytical, scientific and technological aspects.
