Classical Civilisation
Examination Board: AQA
This course requires no knowledge of Latin or Greek and contains no language element. The syllabus embraces the whole cultural background of Greece and Rome with students studying a wide range of historical, philosophical, literary, artistic and religious topics. It is suitable for anyone interested in Classical Languages, Ancient History and Classical Civilisation.
Candidates answer questions on four topics through the examination (two topics for AS and two topics for A2) the two topics to be studies for AS will be: Greek Art and Architecture and the Odysseyof Homer. The two topics to be studiedfor A2 will be Greek Tragedy and Roman Epic.
Tuition groups are lively and interactive with discussion and play-reading to support study. Theatre visits and museum visits are also arranged when appropriate.
Entry requirements:
Grade A or above at GCSE in English Literature.
