AS & A2 Levels

Most students take four subjects for AS at the end of Year 12 then continue with three of these subjects to A2 level in Year 13.

There are minimum grade requirements for individual subjects. This is usually a B, A or A* in the subjects you are intending to study at AS Level with some exceptions, notably Mathematics and Modern Foreign Languages for which A or A* are needed. 

Not surprisingly, the higher your achievement at GCSE the greater your chance of gaining a higher grade at A Level.

The vast majority of students who go on to achieve the higher grades at A Level actually achieved A or A* in those subjects at GCSE.
