In the days leading up to the holiday the girls have had the opportunity to make cards and decorations in the library:

In preparation for the Christmas holidays, girls are welcome to borrow additional school library books. The fiction library is extremely well stocked with novels to suit all reading tastes and abilities.

Girls who love to cook during the holidays can take advantage of recipe books added to the Library in 2011, featuring Rachel Allen, Lorraine Pascal, Sam Stern and mouth-watering cakes from the 'Great British Bake-off'.

Community libraries are a valuable resource for extra books and all have websites packed with information and access to online catalogues:

Stories from the Web (http://www.storiesfromtheweb/) is accessible through Birmingham Libraries for those who love creative writing, stories, reviews, poems and raps.

Whilst http://www.lovereading4kids/is very useful for keeping up to date with new fiction publishing.

http://www.shoutaboutmagazine.com/  is another online publication for creative writing and illustration. The site has been set up by a group of authors and illustrators and is recommended by teachers and librarians.
