Curriculum

All pupils follow a course of study which goes beyond the National Curriculum with girls benefitting from attention to detail and focused approach to study.

All the core and foundation subjects of the National Curriculum are studied at standards above NC levels. Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Art/Design Technology, Music, Physical Education, ICT, Games and French are studied throughout the Preparatory department.

Girls are placed in forms of 18-22 pupils and as well as teaching from their form teacher they attend classes given by specialist subject teachers in science, music, PE and languages.

The Preparatory department offers a fully-equipped science laboratory, two ICT suites, a library and shares the swimming pool, gymnasium and Octagon performance space with the rest of the School.

Music has a special part to play in the life of Prep. The Department has two choirs, an orchestra and numerous ensembles, including wind, string, brass, recorder and guitar. Girls enjoy participating in school concerts, and festivals and are given a wealth of performing opportunities including assemblies and, in their final year, an annual production involving staff from the School's Music Department.
