PROFESSOR DAME SALLY DAVIES

sally_daviesOld Girl of EHS, Professor Sally Davies, became Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE) in the New Year Honours in January 2009 for services to Medicine. Sally is Director General of Research and Development at the Department of Health and Chief Scientific Adviser for the Department of Health and NHS.

 

She is also a member of the World Health Organisation’s Global Advisory Committee on Health Research and the UK Health Innovation Council. She is on the academic staff of Imperial College, London where she is Professor of Haemogobinopathies and her research interests focus on sickle cell disease.

LAUNCH OF ONLINE FORUM

oga_forum.thumbThe OGA is pleased to announce that the new online Forum is now available at http://www.edgbastonhigh.com/old-girls/

Hosted by the School website, the new OGA Forum enables Old Girls to post questions, get in touch with School and each other and organise events more easily. The Forum will operate like others to be found online though Old Girls do have to be either Life Members or Honorary Members of the Association to register and gain a log in.

 
CHRISTMAS COCKTAILS - QUITE A MIX!

cocktail_thumb2Old Girls, former staff, governors and parents gathered in the Octagon on 19 December for what is rapidly becoming the annual Christmas Cocktails event. Surrounded by trees, delicate lights and festive music some 50 guests enjoyed great conversation and delicious cocktails before the School closed it doors for the Christmas break.
