HEAD'S END OF YEAR LETTER

ruthWe have arrived at the end of the academic year although it only seems minutes since we were at the beginning. It is a year that we will remember for our Inspection, the Snow, the Ash Cloud and the Building Project - a varied and memorable year. We will of course also remember the sad loss of Zainah Baig last September. Zainah's parents have donated a prize in Zainah's name which will be awarded for the first time at Speech Day in November.

PREP NEWS
prep_newsWell the final week of term has arrived and what a busy one it has been. It is hard to believe that we managed to fit everything in.

We began the week by presenting a cheque for £1200 to Iswy whose parents are responsible for the girls' orphanage in Zimbabwe that we have been supporting with our silver bag collection this term. We have enjoyed several visits from Iswy's family and look forward to hearing about the progress of the school being set up for the girls.

GOLDEN SKETCHBOOK AWARDS 2010

copy_of_gs_2010_5Once more" tinseltown" came to Edgbaston on June 25th with the Art Department's annual Art Exhibition and Golden Sketchbook Awards. Now in its fourth year the event gives parents and visitors the chance to see the full range of work produced in the Art department, including ceramics, fine art, graphic design and animation. Sketchbook work is a vital part of the department's work with girls and The Golden Sketchbook awards acknowledge outstanding achievement in this regard.

SENIOR SCHOOL SPORTS DAY 2010

copy_of_sd_10_2The weather began superbly... then after torrential rain at 10 am for half an hour we were all a little worried ... but later the sun came out again!

The field events were scheduled for the morning and members of Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 from each house took part in the throwing and the jumping. But the afternoon was the main feature of the day and the whole school came down to the filed for the track events and the tug of war.

No one was put off by the heat and 100% was given in all events although regular breaks were needed in between the races for the pupils to get ice cream and strawberries.
