A new Inter-House event was introduced in the Prep Department on Friday 12th February when the first pancake race took place.

This exciting event was introduced in assembly by the four House captains, Jordan, Isobel, Evie and Megan. They shared information about the history of pancakes and how other people celebrate Shrove Tuesday and they demonstrated how to make the perfect pancake!

At lunchtime we all gathered on the Prep playground and the teams were ready. Each House was represented by a member of staff and a girl from each year group. Girls in Year 1 tossed the pancake once, Year 2 twice, Year 3 three times and so on with staff having to toss their pancake for the entire length of the course. At the end of each leg the cook's hat and apron had to be transferred and the relay race continued.

There was much cheering and excitement and a number of dropped pancakes and the winning House was Nightingale. There is no doubt that this will become an annual event.
