YEAR 10 MATHEMATICS TRIP TO DISNEYLAND PARIS

disney_-_maths_trip.thumbOn 10th January earlier this year, Year 10 set off on a Maths trip to Disneyland Paris. We travelled by coach, taking several breaks on the way and arrived in Paris in the evening. After we'd unpacked, eaten and explored Disney Village, it was time for us to go to bed in our Western themed hotel rooms.

The next morning, we got up bright and early to head out to Paris where we had a brief tour of the main sites before being set down outside the Notre Dame to do our own thing. Most of us just went shopping, purchasing souvenirs where the prices were a little lower than in the park itself. In the evening, we had our first seminar after being given our own money to buy dinner. They talked a lot about ride dynamics and design, giving us a taster for the day to follow. The presenter was lively and enthusiastic, especially compared to the exhausted EHS girls who'd enjoyed their long day out.

The following day was spent, after our second seminar, in Disneyland Park where we all took advantage of our two park pass by going on almost every ride. Admittedly, some people were braver than others and not everyone could take on the Tower of Terror. Most people agreed that the Rock ‘n' Rollercoaster was definitely one of the best rides with its loud music and fast pace. Lunch was also bought in the park, and everyone enjoyed the chance for some good fast food. Even being 14 and older, we still all enjoyed meeting the Disney characters and having our pictures taken.

In the evening our third seminar was accompanied by dinner in the hotel and reluctant packing. Everyone was exhausted but it didn't stop the fake leg prank which managed to liven everyone up and give the teachers a bit of a scare. That's definitely something everyone will remember!

The morning started early for us, as we were woken up at the horrible crack of dawn which some of us hadn't seen for a while. Everyone was packed and out to breakfast remarkable quickly and soon we were all waiting to get on the coach and get home. Once the packed lunches had been located, we could set off. The journey back was a bit quieter than the one out, and the Eurotunnel was barely noticed. Everyone was glad to be back on home soil even if it was covered with snow. Arriving back at school was easy enough and everyone rushed home. Thank you to all the teachers for organising such a fun, and even a bit educational, trip!
