Prep Celebrates 'Stargazing Live'
Published: 02 Feb 2012 updated: 10 Feb 2012
Year 4 pupils were given a talk by professional photographer and astronomy enthusiast Richard Birtles and had the chance to view the sky through a professional telescope.
Pupils in Year 5 attended a stargazing workshop which included a 'fun facts' planet quiz, letter writing and a challenge involving mapping the constellations.
Meanwhile, in Prep hall, Year 6 girls experienced the night sky in 3D inside a special viewing dome! They learnt about the constellations, the history of astronomy and technological changes which have advanced our knowledge of the night sky.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all and our visitors were impressed by the knowledge and interest which came from the girls.
'Zee and Sumpa from Thinktank came and treated us to a spectacular 3D show in which we learnt about space and all the intriguing planets in it.'
