Mad Science

Published: 19 Jan 2012   updated: 04 Apr 2012

On Thursday 17 November, pupils across Key Stage 1 and 2 were treated to an exciting Science show. This show was part of the Science prize won, out of 27,500 entries, by Katie Potter in the 2011 National Science Week competition.

The show began with some fun Science 'magic' tricks and continued with a fascinating look at electrical conduction using a plasma ball and Tesla coil. The girls were able to see electricity making its way to the ground in an attractive and visual way! There were also some very entertaining experiments on air pressure including Bernoulli's principle, illustrated by a floating football and a mummified teacher! Other dramatic demonstrations featured coloured 'potions', dry ice and a 'Mad Science shower'!

The show was thoroughly enjoyed by pupils and staff alike and our show host, Ceri, was certainly impressed by the answers the girls had to offer to Scientific questions.
