This week saw the culmination of the Seeds to Food Project 2010 in Senior School.
The seeds of vegetables like sugar snap peas, carrots, spring onions, rocket, spinach, beans, tomato, cucumber, chilli peppers, radish and beetroot were sown by Senior School Gardening club members and LabRats in March and April 2010. The members of the gardening club tended to the seedlings and when they were large enough they transplanted them into the raised beds and the greenhouse at the EHS Allotment. They watered and weeded the beds and watched the plants grow.
Last Friday during gardening club they harvested potatoes, spinach, sugar snap peas, carrots, spring onions, lettuce and cabbage.
On Wednesday this week, the Year 10s transformed these harvested vegetables into tasty dishes during their Home Economics lesson.
Mrs Lampard, Head of Home Economics, said "We really enjoyed making potato salad and stir fry."
