The weather began superbly... then after torrential rain at 10 am for half an hour we were all a little worried ... but later the sun came out again!
The field events were scheduled for the morning and members of Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 from each house took part in the throwing and the jumping. But the afternoon was the main feature of the day and the whole school came down to the filed for the track events and the tug of war.
No one was put off by the heat and 100% was given in all events although regular breaks were needed in between the races for the pupils to get ice cream and strawberries.
The staff did an excellent job in organising the day, from those who were in charge of starting, measuring and timing of events to the scorers and announcers. The PE staff in particular were brilliant. The sixth form played their part in looking after their houses and making sure each person was at their event on time. They were also a great support to the staff in the field events. The highlight of the day was the finale where teams of sixth form and staff took each other on in the tug of war and the relay. The sixth form were no match for the staff in either event, however their efforts provided a good end to what had been a memorable day.
