On Thursday, Edgbaston High School's Year 9 Press Gang took part BBC News School Report Day, when over 500 schools across the UK made and broadcast their news for real.
Poppy Wilkes and Hannah Saunders from Year 9 worked with a team of dedicated pupils to devise a current news story. Poppy said "We researched news stories that we felt were of interest to teenagers before choosing the news story of the day".
Hannah commented that: "It was quite nerve racking as we were racing against the clock".
As an editorial team the Press Gang focused on ‘What makes a good role model?' The gang interviewed fellow peers and teachers and found that attributes such as individualism and success made a good role model.
The Press Gang agreed that the Media Day was a fascinating insight into the world of journalism and has really sparked their interest in current affairs, giving them a chance to tell their own stories.
